Hahaha! Thank you so much, Kristin! Your snorts are my reward! How about "Shadow and the Truffle Troupe!" I can see it now ... Shadow dramatically prowling through the forest, spotlight fixed, as the truffles transform themselves into mischievous singing mushrooms ... belting out a jazzy showstopper. Throw in some interpretive dance from the red squirrels and you’ve got a Broadway hit! 🤣
Hahaha! Your laughter is my reward, Simone! I blame it all on Veronika for inspiring me to let my alter ego take control of my Substack newsletter! 🤣❤️
Hahaha! I think yesterday before I read Veronika's fascinating post, I read your brilliant story "Kaaos" and thought, hmm, I need to write a love letter to chaos myself! And so, inspired by your Queen-Agers, I reached for my pen and the laughter lines began ... Thanks Maryellen.
Hahaha! And thank YOU, Veronika, for the inspiration yesterday! I must admit, I was a bit nervous and my hand did hover over the 'Continue' button for a minute or so - but by then, my alter ego had taken full control! What a brilliant writing prompt I was thinking to just let one of your other 'selves' write, create, sing. I don't think I'll never forget writing this story as long as I live. What a lesson; it feels like I threw my soul up high! Thanks again.
Thanks Deborah! What a fun read! Unleash those selves! Definitely own it! Those red slippers are a tight fit to slide into indeed. Maybe the secret all along has been to take our own shoes off first. Maybe some of those selves are stories? Maybe we aren’t telling the stories. Maybe the stories are telling us. Thanks for being you. Dancing to the YMCA. Perfectly imperfect 🙏❤️
Hahaha! Your laughter is my reward, Jamie! After reading Veronika's reflective post yesterday, I started wondering - hmm, what would it be like to let my alter ego take over my Substack newsletter? I haven't had this much fun writing in years! Indeed, our stories shape us in ways we don’t always see or even notice. Thanks so much for sharing this fun with me!
You constantly surprise me, Deborah. I love this wickedly funny dance with your alter-egos. And I SO needed the belly laughs. I feel lighter than I have in days. You might want to bring this to the stage as a one woman...er, many women...show! Kudos!
Hahaha! Your laughter is all the reward I need! Yes, others have said the same ... get it on stage! Thanks so much for your cheers, Jenna! I'm tickled pink that it had the effect I hoped for. And, on a more serious note, what a great writing prompt ... to hand our pens over to our alter egos!
My dear Deborah, what an exciting new style you have adopted for offering valuable advice. Bravo! I believe you have truly established yourself as a professional writer (in poetry, you have always been a master). You are the lady wizard of Oz. Well done!🤙🤗
Hahaha! Thanks so much Aladin for your kind-hearted reply! I thought I’d try comedy writing (well, my alter ego did!), it’s been years and I’m a bit rusty but this was so much fun! Much love and laughter, Deborah aka The Lady Wizard of Oz!
You were right, Deborah. I was NOT expecting this! I can't even start listing the lines I loved. I may or may not have snorted once or twice. 🤣
Thank you for giving us a front-row seat to your stage. Makes me ponder what sort of "show" my own selves would produce. 😉

HAHAHA 🤣
The Angel, the Tin Man and his microwaved spoon, Aunt Em and the spliff, the YMCA …. The whole of it. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😱. Love it … ❤️

Your alter ego rocks … l nearly rolled out of bed (it’s only 5.30am 😊) 🤩
Too much fun for free! 🤣❤️
What a collection of memorable lines in just one story & my giggles. Omgosh the giggles! Thank you! I needed this read today.

Oh thank you! I'm so glad the Queen Agers are spreading their "joy of life" philosophy! 💗🙌💗
I’m so inspired by them, honestly Maryellen! I look forward to meeting them again in your brilliant stories. 💗
Deborah, I'm delighted how you grabbed those ruby slippers by their sparkling stilettos, and called in your alter-ego!
Hilarious!! and some especially memorable lines:
“voice slicing through the haze of lasers, sweat and regret.”
“tonight Dorothy had one mission only: retrieve her slippers, click her heels and sort out the tornado of chaos masquerading as her life.”
“Aunt Em stumbled in, looking like she’d lost a fistfight with gravity.”
and the mirroring line at the end: “dragging Toto through the emergency exit into the chaos of neon-lit Vegas.”
Isn't it fun to be a writer?! Thank you for showing us how to dance with words 🙏 🪄 ♥️ 💃

I would be afraid of what mine might say! 😏
One day, when you’re in the ‘right’ mood Jenna, give it a go - it’ll be worth it! 👠👠

A date with wild self?
Witty writing at its best!
Sans bitchy witches.
Yes, it IS like a date with my 'wild self'! Your last line, so funny! Many thanks Marisol.
